USWeb Debuts E-Commerce Solutions For Cleaver-Brooks Leading manufacturer teams with USWeb to reengineer business and distribution models Delavan, WI. - September 9, 1998 - USWeb Corporation (Nasdaq: USWB) announced today the integration and availability of e-commerce systems for Cleaver Brooks, a leading manufacturer of commercial and industrial boiler systems. The announcement, being made this week at Cleaver-Brooks' Annual Sales Meeting, reflects the company's adoption of Internet technologies to reengineer traditional business and distribution models and streamline efficiencies in sales processes. Designed for consulting and specifying engineers and authorized Cleaver-Brooks sales representatives, the Internet-based systems built and integrated by USWeb redefine the company's traditional sales and distribution methodologies. Boilerspec and OrderNet are enterprise-integrated Internet solutions for automating sales processes, including selection, purchase and delivery of boiler systems used in the design of commercial and industrial building projects. "We're establishing an industry standard by creating new ways for our customers to conduct business with Cleaver-Brooks," said John Warczak, Cleaver-Brooks vice president of materials and systems. "Our ongoing Internet initiatives streamline the procedures necessary in specifying boiler systems, enable our customers to make better, more informed purchasing decisions and automate the distribution of orders, while strengthening customer relationships." Representing a $500,000 initial engagement for USWeb, the Boilerspec and OrderNet applications are custom-built, end-to-end Internet applications that automate Cleaver-Brooks' complete sales cycle, from initial inquiry to order processing. As an online design and specification tool Boilerspec helps users identify appropriate boiler systems, automates the design process and provides better access to decision-critical information, including CAD drawings, rate of returns, and design alternatives. A Boilerspec CD compliments the offering by providing additional support materials, including Cleaver-Brooks' The Boiler Book, The Boiler Room Guide, efficiency and emissions reference guides, and CAD templates for all Cleaver-Brooks products. Once boiler systems have been identified, OrderNet automates the sales process by enabling Cleaver-Brooks sales representatives to place and track orders via the Internet. Providing a faster solution than traditional EDI and at considerably less cost, OrderNet streamlines the time-sensitive ordering process by automating channel processes, including system configurations, order and option pricing and sales commission calculations. "The successful launch of an integrated e-commerce solution is a significant achievement in ensuring Cleaver-Brooks' continued leadership in its industry," said Toby Corey, USWeb president and COO. "The Internet has enabled Cleaver-Brooks to provide new value to its customers, better efficiencies to its employees and serve as a strategic platform for maintaining growth and initiating new opportunity."
