USWeb Clients Adopt Strategic Use Of Internet Technologies 20th Century Fox, Jenny Craig, Motion Picture Association, Ocean Spray and Remerica Real Estate Corp. among recent wins SANTA CLARA, Calif., - October 14, 1998 - USWeb Corporation (Nasdaq: USWB) today announced recent client engagements with 20th Century Fox, Jenny Craig, Motion Picture Association, Ocean Spray and Remerica Real Estate Corp. The company believes these projects reflect the accelerated adoption of strategic Internet initiatives to improve business efficiency and strengthen market differentiation. "USWeb is helping companies achieve the strategic, efficient and highly effective adoption of Internet technologies," said USWeb President and COO Toby Corey. "USWeb client engagements reflect a dramatic and powerful shift in computing. The Internet serves as the catalyst for transforming the public network infrastructure into an application rich environment that's enabling companies to achieve new levels of service, performance and value." Motion Picture Association For over 50 years the Motion Picture Association has been providing services to the movie studios industry. Worldwide communications are an important part of this organization's traditional services. USWeb recently concluded the strategic phase for helping the Motion Picture Association identify new opportunities for applying Internet applications to resolve the inefficiencies of paper-based communication processes. It resulted in an enterprise-wide development project for USWeb to create and deploy a central Intranet and Extranet architecture. The Intranet will be designed to streamline internal communication by centralizing access to core information and the Extranet is expected to expedite information distribution to customers by eliminating the time-consuming current fax broadcasting system. Ocean Spray Ocean Spray Cranberries, Inc., owned by a cooperative of cranberry and citrus growers, partnered with USWeb to build an Internet business application enabling grower-owners to make better, more informed harvest-related decisions. During the fall harvest season hundreds of growers make deliveries by truckload to Ocean Spray receiving stations. Several days later, growers receive crop receipts from Ocean Spray via postal mail. The receipts capture vital crop information, including Ocean Spray's analysis of the cranberry's color, quality and total weight of each shipment. Using a centrally managed Extranet, crop receipts are now available electronically the same day the cranberries are analyzed. This allows growers to utilize the real-time data to make critical harvest decisions, such as delaying the next round of harvests by a few days to enhance the cranberry's color. "Our partnership with USWeb to create and deploy Internet applications for our growers is fundamentally improving the services provided to our growers," said Michael Dunn, Ocean Spray manager, applications development. "Ocean Spray's strategic use of Internet technologies is further establishing the company's industry differentiation by offering our growers a better, more effective way of conducting business with Ocean Spray and for making sound harvest decisions." 20th Century Fox USWeb recently won an engagement with 20th Century Fox. In executing the project USWeb will apply its multi-disciplinary skills towards the creation and deployment of an enterprise-wide Intranet. USWeb will use its expertise in data warehousing, systems and design to build an Intranet that can dramatically enhance data utilization by extending the availability and usefulness of business critical data throughout the organization. The parties also anticipate that the Intranet will serve as a vital tool in generating reports, online analysis and trend forecasting. Jenny Craig USWeb is conducting strategic consulting with Jenny Craig, Inc. to develop the company's complete online business strategy. The consulting services include full market analysis, business process re-engineering, e-commerce, online marketing strategies, content brokering and community development. The consulting will follow with design and development work ongoing into next year. The results will redefine Jenny Craig's brand online and enable the international weight management company to provide better service to its customers. Remerica Remerica is a residential real estate firm that has partnered with USWeb to use Internet technologies to serve as the company's core business operating system. Deploying a supersite architecture, USWeb is creating a neural network between Remerica headquarters in Plymouth, Michigan and its nationwide franchise organizations. The supersite serves as an inter-connected, centralized data and transaction infrastructure that manages, automates and facilitates transactions and processes of geographically dispersed Remerica franchises. The supersite links to General Listing Systems, bridges data residing in advertising systems, provides agents with customized presentations and enables data to be easily imported and integrated into Multiple Listing Systems. Recognizing the strategic use of technology and the adoption of Internet-based business applications as a key market differentiator, Remerica positions its Internet initiatives as a valuable asset in recruiting new franchises.
