USWeb/CKS Partner Becomes Founding Member Of Global E-commerce Initiative

SAN FRANCISCO - September 13, 1999 - USWeb/CKS (Nasdaq: USWB), a leader in Internet professional services, today announced that Krish Menon, a global account partner in the firm, has joined The Council for Internet Commerce as a founding member. In doing so, Menon also joins a growing number of thought leaders within the firm who are extending their expertise and USWeb/CKS's philosophy for E-Success into new ventures and initiatives.

As part of the Council, Menon and other founding members will establish and promote The Standard for Internet Commerce - a comprehensive set of Internet commerce best practices designed to accelerate the growth of Internet commerce and enable new levels of Internet customer service and satisfaction. The first major activity of the Council concludes this month, as members from a wide range of businesses and institutions vote on the first proposed standard.

"As leaders in the digital economy, we have both the opportunity and the obligation to set the example by which all others will want to follow," said Krish Menon. "The Council members are looking for ways to break down the current barriers to E-commerce success - to ensure that consumers have a legitimate, enjoyable experience when buying goods online."

"It's people like Krish who are catapulting our company into a new leadership position," said Robert Shaw, CEO. "These leaders are experts in their fields and are passionate about taking e-Businesses to the next level."

The Council for Internet Commerce, www.commercestandard.com, launched in July 1999, is an alliance of global leaders, including Internet merchants, technologists, consumer and community advocates, analysts, journalists and academics. The Council is directed and led by Ziff-Davis' Global Information Infrastructure (GII) division.

Added Jim Hake, Founder and Chairman, GII, "We are fortunate to have members contributing to the development of the standard from all aspects of the global electronic marketplace. People are overwhelmingly interested in making a significant contribution to shaping e-commerce on a worldwide scale."
