Carolyn Aver
Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

As Chief Financial Officer of USWeb/CKS, Carolyn Aver brings more than 15 years of financial experience to the firm. As overseer of the company's bottom line, Aver has functional responsibility for the firm's finance, accounting, mergers & acquisitions and legal organizations. To date, Aver has led USWeb/CKS through 36 successful acquisitions (including the combination of USWeb and CKS) and has managed the company's financial growth of 100% from $114.3 million in 1997 to $228.6 million in 1998.

From Aver's perspective, change brings opportunity. "Companies that adopt change as a strategic weapon can be far more nimble in their response to business opportunities and challenges," says Aver. "The Internet is driving change. It's amazing what this technology and approach to connecting and communicating with people is allowing businesses to accomplish. Aver began her career in high tech finance at the accounting firm Ernst & Young. She then moved on to Autodesk as CFO, where she helped the company complete its IPO and grow to become a $350 million company. Following Autodesk, Aver joined ParcPlace Systems, Inc., a provider of object-oriented software development tools, as CFO. While at ParcPlace, Aver led the Zerox Parc spin-off through its IPO. Most recently, Aver served as Vice President and CFO of BackWeb Technologies, a developer of enterprise "push" software solutions for the Internet and corporate Intranets/Extranets.

Aver is a certified public accountant and is a member of the California Association of Certified Public Accounts. She is also a member of the Software Publishers Association CFO Committee, which is responsible for establishing industry standards and influencing the direction of public policy in the areas of finance and tax. Aver received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from California State University, Hayward.
