Richard Evans
Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Chief People Officer

As senior vice president of human resources and Chief People Officer, Richard Evans (Rich) is responsible for expanding USWeb/CKS' recruiting and retention programs, uniting people around the company's values, and developing training and professional development programs to strengthen the organization's leadership momentum. Evans is an expert in creating and leading human resources efforts in dynamic and rapidly scaling corporate environments - both domestically and internationally.

He joins USWeb/CKS after working for AT&T and its subsidiaries for more than 20 years. Most recently, Evans served as senior vice president of human resources for NCR, a $7 billion global technology solutions provider and former operating division of AT&T. In this capacity, he led a 700-member worldwide human resources organization and was responsible for training and development. Evans began with NCR in 1995 and rebuilt the company's human resources function from the ground up helping to support an effort that resulted in the company going from a $700 million deficit in 1995 to breaking even the following year. In 1997, Evans co-led the spin out of NCR from AT&T.

Prior to NCR, Evans served as vice president of international human resources for AT&T. In this position, he recruited three regional vice presidents and formed the first unified international human resources leadership team - a team that supported more than 56,000 employees worldwide and helped develop the "one AT&T" strategy for approaching the competitive telecommunications environment on a global scale. Evans has also worked as president and regional managing director of AT&T Communications Asia/Pacific, director of executive human resources, and served early in his career as director of international marketing and sales for AT&T Computer Systems. In addition to his excellent track record in human resources, Evans brings experience as both an attorney - he began his career as an attorney in 1972 and joined AT&T's legal team in 1978 - and line-of-business manager, thus adding depth to USWeb/CKS' corporate team and providing a hands-on perspective in developing programs for a high-growth, results-oriented business.

"USWeb/CKS has an incredible mix of talent - creative, strategic and technical," said Evans. "Our path to success lies in enabling professionals in each discipline to contribute their individual insight to client opportunities. It's our depth of talent that the human resources team will continue to nurture and grow."

Evans has a bachelor's of arts degree from Principia College in Elsah, Ill., and received his J.D. from Washington University in St. Louis. He also completed the senior executive program at M.I.T.'s Sloan School of Business.
