Tom Suiter
Chief Creative Officer

As an internationally known corporate identity expert and Chief Creative Officer for USWeb/CKS, Tom Suiter truly understands that the alchemy of branding has always been complex. But, as Suiter sees it, the Internet has added an incredibly potent ingredient to the mix‹and how well you translate your brand online will in many cases determine whether your brand will survive.

"It isn't a paper world anymore," cautions Suiter. "To succeed, great communicators need to leverage sight, sound, and motion in new ways...and that means understanding the art of the possible—which in many cases is driven by technology. As a brand marketer, you must understand how Web and brand interconnect and how you can use the first to ensure the survival of the latter. In the digital economy that understanding isn't a nice "extra" anymore, it's a business fundamental."

As the chief creative visionary for the company, Suiter evangelizes the marriage of marketing and technology and drives the creative concepts behind many our clients' branding strategies. He regularly travels across the country to collaborate with creative teams working on different advertising campaigns and online marketing initiatives, and continually advises both clients and USWeb/CKS professionals on how they can leverage the combined power of marketing and technology to propel a company's identity.

According to Suiter, creative teams today should really include a copywriter, art director and a technologist. "The convergence of marketing and technology expertise is causing a fundamental shift that is absolutely opening the door to new ways of thinking. The bottom line is that your Web site and your brand are now inextricably linked. And, creative and technology will become only more entwined as the Internet continues to change the way we work, play and interact."

Suiter joined Bill Cleary and Mark Kvamme to form CKS Partners in 1991. He was instrumental in directing a number of integrated marketing communications programs for such clients as United Airlines, Levi's, Apple, McDonald's, MCI, Pixar, Go Network and Sears.

Previously, Suiter was the Creative Director for Landor Associates' corporate identity practice. There he directed major identity programs for such companies as GE, Japan Airlines, World Wildlife Fund, Hyatt Hotels and Mercedes Benz Signature Service. Before joining Landor, Suiter served as Creative Director and Creative Services Director for Apple Computer. Under his leadership, his group was responsible for all of Apple's worldwide communications programs; including corporate identity, collateral, packaging, merchandising, trade shows and events. His team was also responsible for introducing the Macintosh and Apple II product lines on international basis. Suiter attended San Diego State University and Art Center College of Design, Pasadena.
